Drug Interactions
A number of medications may interact with Adenosine injection. Notify your medical professional if you are receiving any of the following medicines:
· Digoxin (brand name Lanoxin) or verapamil (brand names Calan and Isoptin) for heart-related conditions, since the actions and adverse effects of both may be amplified and, on the odd occasion, severe cardiac rhythm disorder may take place.
· Carbamazepine or dipyridamole as they may add to the actions and harmful side effects of Adenosine injection.
· Methylxanthines (for example, caffeine, and theophylline) since the usefulness of Adenosine may reduce as a result of taking them.
Dosage & Administration
Adenosine is intended for infusion by means of a vein only. It must be administered as an uninterrupted peripheral intravenous infusion. The prescribed intravenous dosage for grownups is 140 mcg/kg/min injected for a duration of six minutes (entire dosage of 0.84 mg/kg).
